On freebmd can't find entry of Henry born Lambeth. Only ones in Surrey are:

Perhaps he lied about his age to join up?

You could alway check his military service records if they have them at Kew.

Henry Snelling was my Grandfather who died in May 1974. Despite many efforts I am unable to trace his place and exact date of birth. According to the 1911 census he was attached to the Grenadier Guards, aged 21, born in Lambeth, Surrey. This showed him based at St. James, Westminster. District- St. George, London. I have a copy of his marriage certificate which gives his date of marriage as 1st January 1918 to Amy Dalton. His age was 27 and the wedding was held in Godstone District. According to the certificate his father's name was WILLIAM. Despite this information I cannot trace any parents or siblings. Can anyone out there help in my search.
