Yes, you are right and it also changes from state to state. NSW are free and Victorian you have to pay or have a credit card. Will try tonight, just waiting on my cousin to send through the wedding cert so I can find where William was born.

You perhaps need to try to find his death in Australia. Australian death certificates give the spouse's name, parents' names (including mother's maiden surname, if known) and also a list of the children.

PS. Only one of William and Ann's children were registered in Wales, which was Margaret b.104/08/1862.

Hello, and thanks for your input and I don't think they are the same person.

I have just found on the Australian Unassisted Inwward Passenger List that Ann Thomas age 27, Margaret age 1, William Thomas age 36 and Thomas Thomas aged 26 (must be his brother) all on the Naval Reserse March 1864.

So I can definately say that he didn't die in Wales and did in Australia.

I just spoke to my distant cousin who has the wedding certs for both William Thomas and Ann nee Jones marriages and they are definately two different people. The first William Thomas's father's name was Thomas Thomas and he was a Collier. And the witnesses to the wedding were William Davies and Thomas Evans, which I don't think really helps.

So from the dates onboard the Naval Reserve it says that William Thomas was 36yr which makes his birthdate 1828.

Hope this helps.

Hello Susan

Thanks very much for replying, I was thinking I did something wrong.

The only positive information that has been confirmed is William Thomas' marriage to Ann Jones 16 sep 1861 at the Parish Church, Parish of Aberdare, Glamorgan. On the cert (which I haven't seen) it stated that Ann signed with a X and he was born at Aberaman, which is near Aberdare, Glamorgan.

I was only told that the parents were Thomas THomas and Margaret? No confirmation.

Ann nee Jones was from Abergwili Carmarthen.

Hope this helps.

Would like to find out a bit more info on William Thomas b.c.1835 Aberman, Wales. Was a Labourer. D.1870 Wales Glamorgan maybe.

His parents are Thomas Thomas and Margaret or Margeret ?(that's all I know on the parents). Would like to know a bit more info on this family, what other children they had and births and/or deaths. Anyway....Thanks in advance

William Thomas married Ann Jones 16/09/1861 in Aberdare, Mid Glamorgan. Ann was born 1835 Abergwili and died 1923 Victoria Australia.

Other notes on Ann and her second marriage are in my previous thread, so I don't need anything from her second marriage a gent with the same name.

Thanks again, and I do appreciate anything and everything you guys uncover.
