i am trying to find info on a british soldier that was probaly my grandfather.i don't know what regiment he was serving in but he was in dublin around about 1907-he was engaged to my grandmother-eliz mcnamara - but never married her.she went on to give birth to my mum josephine in feb 1908 but married p beatty in 1910.after my mum died it came to light of her birth circumstances.there is no birth cert -so now i want to try and find any info on regiments that were posted in dublin in 1907-from that i might find a connection.if there's anyone out there that could help i would be very very grateful.

Try looking on this site, put his name in the search box, something might show.

He may have gone on to serve in WW1 so would be worth searching Ancestry. If not, his papers would be at the National Archives, if they have survived. Not online though, you'd have to go there or get someone to go for you. If you don't know his name I think any search would be fairly impossible.
