I really am most grateful to you all. That's William Radband sorted. Now for the job of sorting out Thomas Jones North born abt 1787 in Aston Rowan.

(As I explained we had a death in the family yesterday which was why I didn't get a chance to respond to my threads until today. Sorry about that.).

Thomas appears to have led an eventful life if member trees are correct. I have three different wives for him: Catherine; Mary North and Jemima Loader.

On some trees he married Mary North 18 Jul 1831. Other member trees have him married to Jemima Loader 19 jul 1831.

There seems to be a definite connection between the three because of the children's names: Hannah Loader 1830; then 7 children with the surname North.

The 1841 census gives Mary as as the Mother of the North children.

Then there is a Mary Loader 1850 born the same year as Matthew North.

It's all a bit of a puzzle but I enjoy puzzles. Does anyone fancy trying to help sort this one out?

Regards

Maureen

Marriage-20 September 1873
William RADBAND-b-lab-s Robert lab
Sarah Ann FOX-21-sp-d Thmas Beckinsale lab
Wit=Lucy Hayden/Thomas Plaster/Elizabeth Hunt

(Cripps married Clack)

Baptism
02 Jan 1848-William RADBAND s Robert & Elizabeth

can only find this
16 Feb 1851-Mary Ann BECKINSALE d Thomas & Ann

I have the Baptisms and Marriages but not the Buriels

I will hunt around a bit more and see if there is a reason for Sarah Ann's name change !!

Edit
The Mary Ann Beckinsale baptism says " of Aston"-
Aston Bampton did not have it's own registeres until 1839 before that it was Bampton for all entries

The Fox's and the Beckinsale go back to the early 1600s !

Hi Jonesey is correct in saying the only 100% positive way is to order the marriage certificate.

I notice on the 1881 census Sarah Ann is listed as born 1852 in Aston Oxfordshire.............. looking for Sarah Cripps and Sarah Fox on the 1871 census shows this, I can't see anything close for Sarah Cripps;

1871 England Census
about Sarah Fox
Name: Sarah Fox
Age: 20
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1851
Relation: Daughter
Mother's Name: Harriett
Gender: Female
Where born: Aston, Oxfordshire, England
Civil parish: Weald
Town: Weald
County/Island: Oxfordshire
Country: England
Registration district: Witney
Sub-registration district: Bampton
ED, institution, or vessel: 4
Household schedule number: 34
Household Members: Name Age
Harriett Fox 52
Sarah Fox 20
James Fox 14

If this is likely to be correct, tracing Sarah back and then her elder brother shows that there is no father present on earlier censuses.

Researching the family Radband from Bampton Oxon.
Especially the maiden name of William Radband's wife Sarah Ann. It could be Cripps or Fox. Marriage was in 1873.
