On the 1861 Census Emma WOOD aged 41 living at 74 Sussex Street Poplar with her 9 children under the heading "Rank, Profession or Occupation" it says... Blacksmith Wife, Husband in B------. Can anyone read what the word is please.

Does it say husband in prison? Not sure it says Sussex St either?

I think it it Sussex St. with the ss written the old-fashioned way as fs.

It looks like an 's' in it somewhere.....but when I kept looking....could it be 'Husband in Barking' - this being only around 5 miles from Poplar

I have looked on "findmypast.com" & "ancestry.co.uk" also Emma's husband was calles Thomas born abt 1813 in Helstone Devon (info from 1851 census)

OK an FMP address search gives 74 Sussex St as the address...
