Adoption Indexes previously held at The Family Rec

Does anyone know if the Adoption Index Books are still available to view and if so where? Unlike the Birth/Marriage/Death indexes they do not appear to be online.
I am helping a friend trace her half brother who was adopted in 1940. We have a copy of his original birth certificate & probably enough clues to spot & confirm his adoptive name in the index if we could view it.

Hi

I do not know if you can still view them as you say they where held, in the The Family Rec London, and 5 years ago where available, but I think after the new move they are not there, have you tried googling for info on them ?
