First of all, tell me, when I put messages on the board, I always seem to get 'Add' 'Delete' and the other one. How do I just get 'ADD'?
My brick wall. I have a Leonard Mark Henley. He was born 13 May 1886, at 154 Lyndon Road, Bermondsey. I have the BC. His mother was Clara Emily Breacker, but she died in Mar Q 1894.
I have the family on the 1891 Census at 19 Barkworth Road, Camberwell RG12/492 Folio 22 Page 38. Leonard was 4 and he had a sister Gertrude F. Henley, but she was from a previous wife, who - died
I cannot find Leonard Mark Henley on the 1901 or 1911 census. He is NOT the one born in Hants in 1901 and 1911 census.
I am beginning to think he might have been adopted, and taken another name.
Leonard's father married 3 times 1) to Kate Willett m 1880. She died in 1883 with one child Gertrude F. Henley. 2nd marriage to Clara Emily Breacker, who is Leonard Mark Henley's mother. They married in Sept 1893. Yes 1893!!
Leonard's father, also Leonard married again to a Rose ?, but I cannot find their marriage. I have them on the 1901 census at 33 East Dulwich Road, Camberwell RG13/501 Folio 88 Page 1. I also have them on the 1911 census in Peckham, and they say they have been married for 17 years.
Lots of wives and lots of info I cannot find. Can anyone help me please? Many thanks Jo

Think Barbara has found him. Ancestry has him transcribed as Leanars Healey.

Hello Barbara
That could possibly be him on the 1901 census. Funnily enough, he does not come up on Ancestry, so is probably under another name. He was born in Bermondsey. So very likely that is him.
Many thanks for your help Jo

Hello Choccy
My Leonard Henley is certainly getting around. First in Long Eaton, Derbys, and now possibly Winchester. I sort of cut that one out of my mind, as it says b Stockbridge, but of course, they did not remember possibly where they were born, especially if their mother died young. Think I have have to get a Marriage Certificate to check that one out properly
Many thanks for your help Regards Jo

John H. Henley is another son in the family. He was born 1887 Mar Q St. Olave 1d 305
Oddly enough, I don't seem to have him on the 1891 census, when he should be 4
This family is a real mess and in my computer programme, I have just put SORT THIS FAMILY OUT!!!! That is what I am trying to do
Many thanks for your help

You have been very busy, Must print off your ideas and think about them. Possibly Rose was Rose Piercey when she married my Leonard b1860 then in Bermondsey. I am getting very confused. Perhaps there is a marriage for Rose Piercey to Leonard Henley then? Many many thanks for your help

I think you are right. 1891 census as you listed. I think the son I have on the 1901 census is Rose's from her marriage to John Piercey. Have found a birth, which I think is more likely John Henry Piercey 1886 June Q Lewisham 1d 1159.
I don't know what happened to his father ( John Piercey), as I cannot find a death for him which matches
I think when Leonard and Rose filled in the 1901 census, they put him down as a Henley, which he is not, unless he has changed his name by Deed Poll or something.
I have John Henly on the 1911 census given to me by Barbara in the Ligh t Infantry in India.
Leonard Henley b 1860 has been a busy naughty boy!!
Thank you very much indeed for your detective work. How you found them on the 1891 census, which is the KEY, I shall never know!!
Regards Jo

Everyone gets Edit/Delete/Add on their own posts, and other peoples posts only show Add. These are the options available to you - you can edit or delete your own posts, but only you can do this (well GR can delete objectionable posts, of course, but normally, it's only you) - and you can't edit or delete other people's posts (except as thread owner, you can delete the whole thread by deleting your first post), and everyone can add stuff - really add posts to the thread. Years ago, the add button did work - what it did was open a Reply box, pretty much like clicking on Reply does now.
