yes thanks no sign of them i know Mary married in Swansea in 1917
they came over from Ireland but not sure when

I hope you have looked for them by their 'proper' first names - those which you have listed are abbreviations.........apart from Mary

If you purchase Mary's marriage cert, you will find out her age, plus the name and occupation of the father

All i know is they came over from Ireland so i think they were born there and they stayed with a friend Mary Whelan in Waun Wen Swansea.Liz and Mary were twins Mary married George Jones in 1917.They are not on the 1911 census so they may have come to Swansea after the 1911 census

John - I suppose you have this already,

Mary DAVIES marr George JONES Dec Quarter 1917 Swansea district in the county of Glamorgan Vol 11a Page 1875

As Freewheel suggested it would be a good idea to get a copy of this certificate to find her father's name.

Armed with this information you may find her (and maybe her sisters) on the 1911 census of Ireland (which is free!)

Is this the Mary Whelan born 1885 who was married to John? Because if so, at the 1911 census they had a couple of Davies living with them - Thomas (named as brother-in-law) aged 22 and his wife Ruth also 22, listed as sister (though whether of Mary or John is not clear), plus their son Thomas Samuel aged 1. Everyone in the household is listed as born in Swansea. Street address is 1 Mill Row, Swansea.

You could try tracing Thomas back to see if there is a connection with your missing girls.

Looking again this must be William's sister Ruth as he has made a couple of adjustments to make sure that he has adhered closely to the heading "State Relationship to Head of Household"!

The easiest way to obtain the cert for Mary's marriage is to order it online from the GRO - you've been given all the details you need to fill in the 'form'.

It will cost £7.00 including postage
