Hi, I am currently researching my husbands family tree and we have come to a brick wall. I am hoping to get more information about his grandmothers birth family and so am looking for more information on the following people:

Edward G CARTER (b. 3q, 1881, Kent, England) - aka Ernest Stratford
His wife Eleanor ATTFIELD (b. 3q, 1885, Surrey, England)
Their children Winifred Florence CARTER born 1913 in Edmonton, and twins Lily & Phyllis CARTER born 1916 in Battersea.

Lily was definitely adopted out to a family with the surname TARBOX but I am not sure about her siblings.

We are also looking for more info about 3 possible siblings:
Rosina CARTER born 1917 in Edmonton
Edward CARTER born 1919 in Edmonton &
Leonard CARTER born 1921 in Edmonton.

All 6 of these children appear in the Free BMD website under mothers maiden name ATTFIELD but I have been unable to find any information relating to the last 3.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's only one Carter-Attfield marriage 1900-1920 so it looks like they all belong to the same couple.

Did you do a search for deaths in infancy of the three others?

If Lily was adopted to Tarbox, her given name would have been changed also do you think? There's no marriage for a Lily Tarbox of that age, for instance.

Hi,
I know Lily was adopted but she kept her surname the same - it was done before official adoptions came into place and we are not entirely sure of the circumstances.
I had not done a search for deaths in infancy. How do I go about that?
Thanks
Kelly

This MAY be Leonard

Name: Leonard James Carter
Birth Date: 17 Jun 1921
Death Registration Month/Year: Jul 1998
Age at death (estimated): 77
Registration district: Hounslow
Inferred County: London
Register number: 34A
District and Subdistrict: 2371A
Entry number: 274

Ditto Edward

Name: Edward William Carter
Birth Date: 8 Dec 1919

Age at death (estimated): 79
Registration district: Hackney
Inferred County: London
Register number: A39F

But, of course, both would have been old enough to serve in WW2, and may not have survived.
