Viv looking at Scotlands people and possible marriages, if the second William i found is her father and he's now widowed and the other one living with a spouse is a possible son?

The first is living with somone with the forename matching a marriage in 2004 to a William Innes Hughes.

But there are single females matching the forename of the female in the marriage to a William Innes Hughes in 1969. which would indicate he has died?

Your dad is unlikely to be a Genes Reunited member, and even if he is, most members no longer search the boards for contacts. It's one of those things you do for a few months and then drop off.

You sound very sad and frustrated. There are all sorts of reasons why your dad might not be in touch, you might not be aware of them. He might be ill, or moved away, he could be in prison, or maybe he has a new life, and it is a sad fact that many people forget the old life once they have a new one. It doesn't mean he isn't a nice man, just one that has had some problems maybe.

You mention the idea of your children turning up on his doorstep. Does that mean you know where he lives?

As it was said by madmeg it is unlikely that your father is a member of this site so he will not see your posts. Does he know how to find you or your brothers?

Genes Reunited is really not the best place to search for your dad. Unless he is active on here in researching his family tree, he will probably have never even heard of this website.

This is a family history website. It deals mainly with ancestors, not current relatives. The best place I can suggest is electoral registers for the area in which you think he is living.

Does he know where you live and how to contact you? If not, then it is going to be difficult for you both.
