Hello.
I read a magazine called This England. In a recent issue there is a letter from someone in Australia. They recently purchased an old passport at a market in Tasmania. The pasasport belonged to an Elaine Irene Edwards born 1898 Cheshire. Elaine seemed to have travelled in Europe from 1919 to 1924. I believe there is a picture still inside the passport. If anyone thinks they are related to Elaine then please contact Mr Graeme J George Unit 1/1 Mcrae Place, Prospect 7250 Launceston, Tasmania Australia. He say's in his letter that he would like to hear from anyone who is a reative of Elaines will gladly pass on the passport.

And with those names they should be fairly easy to trace?

John's children have quite distinctive names. One is on the ER 2006, the latest he and his wife appear.

Whirley could do a lookup for you Susan, to get the current address, if you want to pass it on to the person with the passport.

I'm not sure of the wisdom of putting the personal details (name, address) of the person with the passport here. I realize he put the info in a letter to a magazine, but the internet is a different matter.

Ah, I didn't look at the peerage site. Well, will wait and see what Susan says, I guess. I'm not going to undertake to write to either the grandchild or the guy with the passport!

Well thanks for all your responses. I didn't really expect any. I just thought that if Elaine was on anyones tree they would contact the person whose name i had given. What a great find for anyone who is related to Elaine.
Thanks
Susan.

Having had a few hours to think about it, if you Janey or someone could give me an address to write to the Grandson i will do that. Also the guy who bought the passport. I know that if someone had a document like that of one of my ancestors then i would be thrilled for them to let me know about it.

I'll PM you the sons' names, Susan, since I'm the first to see this I guess. ;)

If you go to Whirley's thread

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1190509

"Electoral Register Look Ups 2004 to date"

You can send her a private message with those names and she can give you the address for at least one of them on the current electoral roll.

Edit - never mind! I found him in the telephone directory on line and sent you his address and phone number.

I hope he's as interested in it all as we were!

Hello all.
I just thought you would like to know that following the information i got from Janey i have managed to contact the wife of a relative of Elaine Irene Edwards. Telling her about the passport she was over the moon and couldn't wait to ring her husband. So thanks all especially Janey. i feel so pleased that the passport will be going to someone in the family. A job well done.
Susan.
