If you share a blood parent, you are half-siblings.

Unfortunately, with the surname Jones, you are going to have a struggle.

Have you looked in search trees on here?

As Freewheel says, if you have the same father, you are half-sisters. I assume your father was Norman Cedric Jones. Jones is a common name, but perhaps Norman Cedric will help a bit.

Were her parents married?

Where in the country are we looking?

It might be private information that you don't wish to post on here where everyone can see it, but if you know any other details, such as did her parents divorce, and did your father remarry, you can PM me, which means you click on my name in the thread and the message just comes to me.

Not promising any results though, but will see what I can do.

Well, I've found the marriage of her parents, and her likely birth in Manchester. The next thing is to search for a marriage of Hazel. There are 12 possible marriages of a Hazel D Jones between 1965 and 1977 and none are in Manchester. Unless you know anything more about her, your only option is to apply for each certificate in turn, specifying the father as Norman C Jones. It will cost you £7 each time, but if the father is not Norman C Jones you will be refunded £4. It could be a costly business as she may only have given the name Norman Jones, and might only have described herself as Hazel.

Might be more productive to put an advert in the Oldham local newspaper, or even write a letter to the editor.

Does she know that you exist? Might it come as a shock to her?

There are some Hazel Jones's if you google. One at Manchester University. Some professional people do retain their maiden names for professional purposes, and of course, she might not have married at all.

I'd give them a whirl. Nothing lost.

I have her birth certificate that names my father Norman Cedric jones and her mother as eileen foster.
I believe my father divorced Eileen as she was having an affair and had a son.
I was told that Hazel did visit my father in London When I was born but not after that. On the divorce papers it named samual Slater as the other party.
apart from applying for each of the marriage certificates (which will cost alot). any other ideas
