Find Ancestors

I have a member of my family tree called Ann Lister. She married Peter Berry in 1871 and in the 1881 and 1901 census her year of birth is 1847 or 1848 in Hyde, Stockport.

I looked her up on the family search website and the only real match is Ann Lister Christened 2 January 1848 in Stockport, so presumably born late 1847 - freeBMD confirms this. The family search site says her parents are George Lister and Millicent Price. However, on the census for 1851 and 1861, I cannot see an Ann living with George and Millicent, they only have sons listed.

My next step is to order her birth certificate, but I wondered if there are any other ways of finding out about her parents before I do that?
