The GRO index from 1837 onward has not one Reddy event in Cornwall. The Cornwall OPC database seems to have no Reddy events at all.

The censuses show four women named Reddy born in Cornwall, two being Reddy by marriage. One husband is Peter Thomas Reddy born c1842 in Lancashire, and he is a corporal in the Royal Marines. The other's husband, in 1901 actually looks like the same person, but his birthplace is Sandwich, Kent.

Then there are two unmarried women named Reddy.

Where they came from and went, who knows.

I just thought the Elizabeth 1826 was interesting as a possible sibling for our Ann.

The problem is she is actually part of a household headed by a Joseph Teddy (although from her position in the list might be a niece or some such) and that is what her name looks like. And actually, from further census and GRO searches, the name is Tiddy.

So there's just no Reddy presence in Cornwall after 1837.

I wonder whether James Reddy and Mary Cane were not English - Irish, Scottish? and possibly even married somewhere like Canada when James was posted abroad.
