Found three possible William Mercer / Lavinia marriages - but no Prout. No sign of a William Mercer marrying Prout.

How likely is it that Rosina was born to Lavinia's first marriage to Mr X. Mr X died so Lavinia married Mr Prout. Rosina took on Mr Prout's name. Mr Prout died. Lavinia married William Mercer using her first married name or maiden name?

I think it's a bit convoluted but possible ...

You need Rosina's marriage cert to check her father's name.

Is it possible that she was married before so therefore under another name for 1911, 1901 etc?

Or, is it possible that father died young and mother remarried and Rosina took on her stepfather's name?
