I have been told by elderly relatives that somewhere there is a connection with our family to the Haris family from Romford, Essex, but I can't work it out.
There are clues ,but nothing concrete. It started when an old calling card was found in a deceased aunt's belongings.
It said Miss H Irene Harris of 66 Rush Green Road ,Romford.
Then 2 relatives remembered the journey they would take as small children from Fulham to Romford to visit a house in Romford. They would play in a garden in which there was a huge weeping willow tree.
Then there the story of another aunt who was in Hornchurch children's home from 1930-1944. She remembers a school friend called Sylvia. She went to her grandmother's house one day who was called Nanny Harris. The lady was surprised that they knew one another and said they were distantly related. We also have a Ben Harris who features alot in family memories. He was born in Romford maybe 1900 and never married and was still alive in 1968 and living in Romford.
I searched the phone directories and there was a F W Harris and K W Harris living at 66 Rushgreen Road 1948-1953.

Does anyone remember any of these names and able to shead some light for me.I have several photos of Ben Harris taken in the 1940s and one of nanny Harris.
Romford Library is having some work carried out at the moment and electrol rolls have been archived.

any help would be appreciated.

This is driving me mad.In the phone directories K W Harris was living at 66 Rush Green Road, Romford in 1946, 1948 AND 1950. F W Harris was living there 1949,1951 and 1953.Very confusing and could be the same person I suppose.

I know that Havering library is having renovations done at the moment so electrol rolls are not accessable.

Is there anyone visiting the British Library who could do a look up on this address please to see who actually lived at the above address.
I have found a Frederick William death in 1949 aged 88 and thought that may have been them, but can't be because he was still living in 1951.

Thankyou

Donna- it's driving me mad too- I want to know!

It maybe worth asking for the details for Rush Green Road on the 'Records Board'

Thanks Helen
I didn't want to confuse people with having 2 messages on different boards, but then I though more people will see my plight.

I have just put a request on the Records board.

Fingers crossed
