Hmmmm I don't know - I cant find Christiana's two children Afred Sorrell (born 1887) or Eleanor Sorrell (born 1892). Maybe finding their deaths would help?

Also, maybe I should of stated this sooner. But Christiana Sorrell's marriage to Thomas Stephenson in 1894 in Middlesbrough, doesn't record a father for her. So, may I have had the wrong second marriage all along?

Thank you Alviegal - the reason I didn't post before was because it was a negative responce (as you have also just discovered).

And just to check, she doesn't appear as Christiana Stephenson in 1911? Not Chistine?!

Hmmmm

alviegal Report 8 Oct 2012 21:12

The Christiana in the 1907 marriage was born in 1881. Shame.

Peter Report 8 Oct 2012 20:33

Hi again,

Sorry for not replying sooner - two years late. The register office said the marriage of Christiana in 1907 was not here. So, can I ask for a look-up for her in the 1911?

Christiana Stephenson, born 1865 in Guisborough, Yorkshire.

Thanks,

Peter

Hello all,

Wow, thank you; I've been away from the pc for a few days but thank you for all of this wonderful info! I am staggered and really appreciate all of this help! Thank you again. I have emailed the register offices over the death of James Sorrell and Thomas Stephenson, and I am also waiting to get confirmation of whether Christiana married the man named Hall in 1907.

I'll update here with any further news!

Thank you!

Peter

From cwgc. This is the service record for this person on ancestry. As you can see, there are 36 pages! I have looked at a few and, apart from his given place of birth, everything matches your man.

Place of birth: West Hartlepool, Durham.
Occupation: Tailor
Brothers Thomas James, 66 Archer St, Darlington
Alfred, still serving RE.
Articles of personal property were to be returned to Mrs Lily Sorrell, address as above.
Brother Thomas received his 1914 Star on 11 May 1919 as John had no widow, children or parents to pass it to.
He was a groom in 1913, a very good one by all accounts, but his charge sheet is rather full!
He was punished a lot for Improper language to Superiors, sleeping in and was Drunk in charge of a horse and carriage a couple of times.
