You could try posting your request on the Birmingham History Forum- they have access to Kelly's directories and Electoral registers. It is a fantastic site:

Boer war 1899-1902,would he have been about 15 or over to fight in that.Doesn't the photo give any clues to average age.

That will be why we can't find him in 1901

I have seen no reference to a Charles Harvey King just Henry.

But at least the one to Charles and Rose has been ruled out.

Maybe he was born elsewhere.

Maryb

Do you have any idea which regiment he was in?

You could maybe google for uniforms and compare with your phot.
It may lead you to the correct one and check out any info there maybe.

Mary

I had a quick look for 11th hussars and there were only just over a hundred of them who fought in that war.

Marquita have you tried the 1911 census for Park Road- you can search by address:

88 PARK ROAD ASTON MANOR Aston Manor Aston Warwickshire

The residents there may be linked to him?

There is also another Park Road in Hockley:
88 PARK ROAD HOCKLEY Birmingham Birmingham Warwickshire

The Aston Brook through Aston Manor website has a download of surnames for Aston Streets in 1920- surname living at 88 Park Road (Aston) was Brueton

There was apparently a coal yard next door- surname there was Handley.

Can't see any King families in the road.
