He wasn't named on my BC. It has taken decades to trace my mother and I recently wrote and asked her to tell me about my father. It's a long story but when I was six months old, she found out his name was Charlie Harris. I know I have very little to go on, but I badly need this. It was a solicitor that informed her of his name as his wife had heard of the brief encounter and resulting child and was filing for divirce. The solicitor visited my mother as he wanted a statement from her.
Of course I only have her word on this, I am 43 and time marches, so I feel I really must do my best to find someone related to him.

is he actually named on your birth cert?

The chap in the news article is a Walter Harris

Was he a true romany Gypsy or a travelling tinker type?

Thanks for both answers, I only found out this morning the name of my father and have already contacted the rtfhs, I think I have to become a member before they will help... tho I am not positive about that.

I am trying to find a Charlie Harris who was a gypsy traveller in Sussex. He was staying in the vicinity of Hailsham-Eastbourne in the mid sixties. His age then was 25 ish give or take 5 years. I know nothing more then this.
I have no DOB or sibling/ parent/ children information.
He is my father.
Any help would be fantastic
