Searching for Pamela Edna Harrison who gave birth to a baby girl in London in 1941 and had her adopted. I have no DOB or anything else, apart from a handwritten note to the adoptive parent. Many adoption papers were burned in the war, and the hospital where she gave birth will not give out any information. Does anyone recognise the name from their family tree? Any help will be very welcome! Thanks.

Sandra, do you have the birth cert for this child? The only thing I can think of is to look at who was living at Pamela's address. It would have to be pre- or post-war though as no electoral registers for the war years. A very long shot.
No births for a Pamela Edna Harrison but plenty for Pamela E. unfortunately.

Yes I do have the birth certificate which gives the name of Pamela Edna Harrison, and an address in London which I've checked out, but found nothing. Adoption papers gave her address as c/- the adoption agency. All of the Pamela E's we've checked have different names. I'm checking through the plain Pamelas in case she was given the second name at baptism, but I'm beginning to wonder if she was born overseas. I came across a Pamela Edna, whose mother's maiden name was Harrison, born in Bombay, even contacted a chap who was researching her, but we couldn't prove she was in London during the war years. I think it's called "clutching at straws!"
Thanks for your input Jan! Much appreciated. The search continues!

I've just discovered this lady changed her name by deed poll - no wonder we couldn't find a birth certificate for her!
