Find Ancestors

Hi, trying to find my gt gandmother, I have census info from 91:

CENSUS 1891: 271 Birch Lane, Dukinfield, Ashton Under Lyne, Lancashire; Ellen Jones (Head age 31), single, House Keeper, born Dukinfield; children Arthur Jones (scholar age 5), Mary E Jones (age 2), John W Jones (4), George H Jones (1), all born Dukinfield.

Birth cert of son Arthur shows no fathers name but Ellen as a domestic servant. . Sons Arthur and John working/living on a farm with a different family in 01 so presume Ellen had died.

Any help appreciated although finding a birth, and census in 61, 71, 81 is a long shot, I can;t find anyone born Dukinfield.

edit: Dukinfield although stated in the census as being in Lancashire, actually comes under Cheshire.

Her children wouldn't have been old enough to register the death, so it may have been registered by a member of her family, father, mother or sibling, which could help find her in other census records.

Hi, little Mary E died when a child so not looking for her really, its Ellen Jones her mother that is proving difficult to locate, she wont be with any of her children mentioned above as I have accounted for them, thanks though. x

I think that death cert is your only hope. I can't find a suitable Ellen other than in 1891. Unfortunately I have a horrid feeling she might have died in a hospital/workhouse.

There are several possible births of Ellen, but you'd have no way of knowing which was her, unless her mother/father turns up with one of the children in 1911.
