My mum gave birth to a daughter in 1944/5, she called her Francis, my mum would have given her the surname martin or Halewood she was adopted or given away! very soon after. I only know that the people she was given to lived in Birkenhead cheshire. Does anyone out there know anything or could anyone help. i don't think the baby was ever regitered before the adoption. thanks in anticipation gail

If you go to the Tips Board and put "adoption" in the search box at the top, there are a lot of similar questions. One of them may give you a clue where to go next.
Good luck, and keep trying. This year I found 7 half- brothers and sisters that I didn't know existed! Rather more than I was expecting, but great all the same after 48 years.

Just a thought. would her surname still be Martin? Her "new" parents will have given her their surname.
