Hi, I wondered if someone could do a look up for me please, I am trying to find the birth of James Harrison.

Details from 1841 census: born Droylsden Lancashire, age 12. Note that Droylsden I think can come under Cheshire too, its on the border. I hope to buy his birth cert to obtain his mothers surname.

Thanks for your help. xx

Hi ManchesterCat,

As he was born c 1829 it will not be possible to buy a birth cert - they did not start until 1837.

The best you can hope for is a Parish Record. - I will see if I can find anything.

EDIT: - OOhhh I see your heading says he was born c 1839 yet you say he was 12 on 1841 census?? - Which is correct please?

Thanks Mary, yes I think it also says Manchester is in Lancashire in 1800s, Droylsden today is under Tameside, I can't keep up.

Re his birth, I think the registration district for Droylsden is Ashton Under Lyne, thanks for looking.

James harrison christened in Ashton Under Lyne 22.7.1838 by Samuel and Eliza.

Birth maybe James Harrison J/F/M 1838 Ashton Under Lyne Cheshire Lancs V20 P 98.

Mary Harrison Ashton Under lyne 1840 J/F/M V20 P2.

This could be the Mary age 10months on 1841 census.
