Served in WWI on the Somme, probably in a Lancashire regement.

Sorry I can't offer anything more.

G,Day Arthur,
Without a bit more info hes not going to be easy to find,
FreeBmd has ;
Parker, William Preston Jun. 1897 8e - 543
Parker, William John Preston Dec. 1898 8e - 64
Parker, William Preston Jun 1899 8e - 673

Thats just looking at Preston, as you go further out from preston it increases exponentialy .

FMP has 45 Pages of National Roll and 219 soldiers who died 14-18. Just for william Parker

Regards,
Graham

Polly is a nick name for Mary so the 1915 marriage is probably the one.
Best get the marriage cert to get William's father's name.

Do you have any of his WW1 medals, if so there should be his serial number on it, you should then be able to get his service record, if it has survived.

Also do you know of any siblings, if so name???
