Does anyone know of Annie Mitchell (my Grandmother) who was born in Glamorgan in South Wales in approx 1874, her Father's name was Thomas and possibly her Mother was Ann. Unable to find any trace of her, I would be grateful for any leads.

so if you're sure her name was Annie, then you can dismiss this one as this girls name is Elizabeth Ann.

What name was she married under?
Are you sure that Annie wasn't just a nickname?

Catherine Thanks for that info it is definately Annie Mitchell according to her Marriage Certificate and she married Joseph Tant in St Albans in 1910. I believe they actually met in swansea when my Grandfather was in hospital, thats according to family legend.

What was her father's occupation?

for those, like me, who don't know Wales very well:-

Morriston (Welsh: Treforys) is a community in the City and County of Swansea

so the story about meeting in Swansea is likely to be true.

1881 shows this one, but parents don't match:-

The marriage certificate is not a lot of help, witnesses were my grandfathers family and her father is Thomas a miner although family legend has it that he was a davey lamp lighter. Annie was living in St Albans at the same address as my grandfather.

Thank you everyone for your help I have all the info re Annies Children as they are my Aunt's and Uncle's, unfortunately all dead now. I will be following up the leads you have given me.

Her father's occupation on marriage Cert was miner, but we had always been told he was a davey lamp lighter in the mines, he was also shown as deceased in 1910.
