Does anyone know whether Scarsborough in Yorkshire is the same place as Scarborough? My W. HARRISON had children Christened in Blackrod Lancs, got married in Bolton, and lived in Liverpool. On son's Baptism in Blackrod he is described as William Harrison of Scarsborough, Yorkshire. I would guess that he was born circa 1780. He was still alive in 1832 (poll Book), but not on 1841 census (but widow and children were). Wife was Hannah Cooper d/o Matthias, from Bishopswaremouth. Any help appreciated, further details if required. Thanks. Beverley

I don't know about Scarsborough... but Scarborough is in Yorkshire.......... I would think the added "S" is accidental?

Almost certainly a mistranscription - or mis-spelling, in view of its being in a different county

Much like the wife's info - the place of birth for her is correctly known as Bishopwearmouth
