Sorry, I do not know anything about children changing their names.
How accurate do you think the information is about changing the name. Also, do you know if he lived in Stepney all his live? I can find a birth for an Edward John Williams in Southwark in 1902 (who is living with parents Edward and Julia in 1911) which can just be coincidence.
Cannot see any suitable Caudell/Williams marriage - but that would have been too easy

I'am trying to find Edward John Williams (My Great Grandfather)
He lived with my Great Nan Marie Benjamin and had 5 children But they did not Marry
I have just been told he was not born a Williams but died a Williams (on his Death cert) I think he may have been Married before ?
And the name Caudell was mentioned as a possible name for his mother

Is there anywhere I can found out where people change their names

My grandfather was born in 1931 (John Williams born Stepney)
and the names Edward John Williams and Maria Williams are on the birth Cert

Please can someone help me find Him
