I am trying to prove/disprove a link between the captain of the Royal Charter which sank in 1859 and my family. Does anyone have details of Thomas Taylor's family especially parents and siblings?

You will need to give a few more details of Thomas Taylor's birth dates etc.
From googlesearch:
Marie Davies
My GG Grandfather was Thomas Taylor who was the captain on the Royal Charter when it went down.
There is a lot of information out there.

He married Elizabeth born 1823 Lancs and died 11/1/1905.
1861 census as her as a green grocer in Westhoughton lancs with children
Ellis 1839
William 1841
Emma 1849
Mary Ann 1856
Nancy 1859 married 1899 in Bolton to Enos Muskett Nancy died 17/11/1929.

Andrew Birchall is great great grandson of thomas Taylor the Captain.
Andrew had a daughter Bridget Birchall.

I can't find Elizabeth prior to 1861 on the census returns which would have probably said that she was a Mariners wife.

If you give me some more names that you think is connected to your family maybe I could try and find something for deffinate.

Thank you to everyone who replied. The exact relationship is a little unclear. My father was told that his great uncle was Thomas Taylor, captain of the Royal Charter. His grandmother, my great grandmother, was Jane Taylor a fisherman's wife in Fraserburgh, Scotland which is where my father's maternal side resided for many generations. Does anyone know how old Thomas was when the Royal Charter sank?

Info on Thomas Taylor is a bit lacking, but if he was husband to Elizabeth then he would have been born @ 1820s.

I have looked at many trees with your Jane on but none have Thomas Taylor in the time frame that thomas would have been born.
Are these your Jane Murray born 1854 Portersie married George Taylor 6/11/1873 had Jane 1875 in Broadsea

Does anyone have access to the newspapers at the British Museum? Perhaps an age at the time of the wreck is mentioned?
