Find Ancestors

The LDS recently put a large collection of Greater Manchester old parish records online (although they call it Ches, Lancs & Yorks):

Here is what i know that is relatively certain. William Thomas married Hannah Stansfield in 1869. According to the census' after that he is from Salford, Lancashire, and also the marriage certificate says he is from Salford. The marriage certificate says he was born in 1848, altho the census' say differently (1871 census says 1841)
As I've said, the marriage certificate gives no father for either person, just a line through it. The marriage certificate also says that William was a railway stoker.

An element of doubt seeing how common the Thomas name is in the Manchester/Salford area has made me start to doubt some of the leads i've had.

I was given some information about another census entry for a William Thomas in 1851 where he is listed with two other male Thomas' (John Greenwood Thomas and James Gore Thomas) where they are lodgers.

Also given the 1861 census where William Thomas and James Thomas are listed as being 'brother of the head' despite the head of the house being a man named Thomas Chapman.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this elusive family? Are these new Thomas' where my ancestors come from, or is it the other family with a John Thomas as head and a brother of William's called John? I have been told that there was a John Thomas associated with the church who was a witness at many weddings. Can anyone help me solve my element of doubt and find my family?

I have William Thomas' marriage certificate (he was my great grandfather) was married in 1869. The father's of both bride and groom are not listed, but a John Thomas is listed as a witness. So I gathered from that, that he is a brother of William. John and Elizabeth Thomas have a son William and a son John. The marriage also lists him as being born about 1848.

Also as there are at least 4 other John Thomas born around that time ,believe their Fathers are all Brothers.

John Thomas abt 1811 Salford-Cordwinder-wife Mary

They were married in 1834, but if I could find a younger brother or sister then I could do the same for them.

My ancestor John Thomas was born in Salford in about 1818. In familysearch.org I found an entry for a John Thomas born in 1818 in Salford who's parents are John and Elizabeth Thomas. I saw the 1851 and i saw the entry for a John & Elizabeth Thomas age 63 born abt 1788 in Manchester. Can someone give me some advice as to whether this could be them? Or how can I find out?
