William is an Agricultural Labourer on the 1841 census too. If you know where Isabel is buried it may lead you to a death date for William as they may be buried together. It looks though that he died before Statutory registration began in 1855. So even if you find his death recorded in the burial records it almost certainly won't give any details of his parents.

William Gardiner Agricultural Labourer is what it states on Isabel's death certificate.

Isabel's parents were William McPherson and Ann McPherson nee Christie (deceased). Isabel died on 14/11/1883 in something?? Strathmiglo, age 67 years Father William McPherson, Mason (deceased) died of old age (not certified), informant possible Ken Campbell son in law. It does state Widow of William Gardiner something??? labourer.

This looks like the Blackford one - unmarried in 1841 (looks like his father is remarried)

Thanks for this. Unfortunately the marriage cert only states 1837 Proclamations Nov 26 William Gardiner and Isabel McPherson. Absolutely nothing else.

Another one that doesn't seem to fit with names.

It may be worth looking at the original on Scotlandspeople to see if she was a widow as William may just have been working away from home.

If she is widowed it narrows the timescale for William's death to 1846 to 1851.

I should think that William was born a little earlier than 1821. He could have been born between 1817 and 1821 as the enumerator has rounded down the adult ages to multiples of 5 on this census. That was what they were supposed to do in 1841 although not all did.

You could look for the Williams that you think are possible on the 1841 census and perhaps find the correct William by a process of elimination.

Can you give us the details of the possible births please?

Who was Isabella's parents please?
When & where did Isabella die and who was the informant?
All this information will help us to connect to the correct family.

It looks like one or the other of them came from Fowlis Wester.

On the marriage cert, does it give William or Isabella's residence at time of their marriage?

I am stuck with this one, hope someone can help.....William Gardiner born c1821 (first child born in Blackford, Perth, Scotland) married to Isabella McPherson 26/11/1837 in Crieff, Perth, Scotland - Isabella born c1816. I have found Isabella's death certificate giving me her parents names however i am unable to find any more information on William Gardiner - Thier marriage certificate does not show parents names. Doing a search on Scotlands people show 3 birth certs that may be his unfortunaltely the immages are not available - but still how do i know which one would be his?????? Where else can i look for further information???
