That could be the John William boarding at the Ramshaws but that says he was born in Chester Le Street and the 1901 Census says Lanchester so I am not sure but my husband says Lanchester is near Chester Le Street. |

I think you will find it is Lanchester and not Lancaster. Lanchester is indeed very close to Chester-le-Street. On census records people often gave differing places for where they were born. Sometimes they just gave the nearest "big" place to where they were actually born. |

I wonder if this could be John William with his parents in the 1881 census (name spelt with an "e"). He is the only one I can see born anywhere near Lanchester (Wheatley Hill is very close to Lanchester):- |
