I have a copy of the 1911 census retun of my grand parents.
There is a column which is titled :
"Particulars as to marrage" and one question is ;
Children born alive to present marriage.
If no childeren born alive write "none" in column 11.
My grandparents put - in the column which says childeren still living and written" none" in the column which says total children born alive.

My Grandparents married in 1909 and my Dad who was the eldest was born in 1920 and his siblings in 1923, 1926 and 1930.
There was a twin who died in infancy in 1926.

Would I be right in asuming that other children were born prior to 1920 given the length of time their parents had been married.

The family were practising Roman Catholics.

If anyone has any knowledge of Irish census I would be very greatfull for any information.

With thanks

Teresa

Your grandmother is very likely to have other children pre 1920, having had children post this date. However she may have carried no other children to full term. She could have miscarried pre the 1911 census but this would not be shown on the census form

Thank you for your help K.

My dad and siblings were orphans by 1933 the parents died within 11 months of each other so my Dad would not have known much about miscarrage etc

Cooper ...I would suggest that this have been filled in incorrectly...to have no children..or children not alive to full term and then some 10 years later to begin a family at regular intervals seems strange to say the least...
Do you want to send me a PM and I will look at the entry..

Hi I asked Jackie who looks up research but she didnt have any Irish sites
Someone very kindly found the 1911 irish connection in 1911 census which had the information in this thred.

I was trying to find out if my dad had other siblings because he was the eldest of his brothers and sisters and his parents had been married for a while prior to his birth.

Sadly he suddenly died in Feb this year and I didnt have the above information prior to his death. He has one younger sister alive who was 6yrs old when both parents died so she has little knowledge of events. My mother is also dead so sadly I have no one to ask.
