As Dea also said some local records offices will also supply certs same price but the GRO ref isnt any good to them as thats the GRO filing system ref.only

Thank goodness you spotted that - I DO so hate it when people pay more than they need to for Certs !!!!!!!!

Do as Sheila says Kylie - only ever buy them from GRO (or the Local Records Offices).

They were £7 until recently but are now £9.25 - Never pay more than this !!

OH no no no !!
only buy your certs from this site

www.gro.gov .uk
its the official GRO site.

You have to reg FREE and then proceed with the order. Dont forget to tick the box on the first page that asks if the GRO ref is known.
certs have just gone up Think they are now £9.25

tip too they will send you a password that is case sensitive . keep the email and copy and paste the password every time you want to log in to the site to order more certs

Hi,

Is there a cheaper or easier way to obtain a birth certificate rather than doing it through Ancestry.co.uk?

I have found the certificate I want as I need to find out her parents name.

Brenda Mitchell 1954 Newcastle upon Tyne

It costs over £20.00 and I want to know if there's any other way of obtaining the details cheaper?
