It varies from province to province. In BC, the closure for births was recently raised to 120y, but the old releases thru 1903 are still available.

Hadn´t realised I was so close to closure. Having quite recently found out that half of the family went to Canada Idecided to set about finding them as we must have relatives there. Not having much luck so far.

Well, you're starting to run into Ontario's privacy closures. For BMDs, they're 100/80/70 y (well, technically, deaths aren't closed, but there's no index published for 70y, so unless you know when the death was, it's very expensive to search in (I think) 5 y blocks. Censuses are 92 y, so 1921 gets released in 2014.

Really your best bet is to contact living descendants, or find city directories/phone books, or announcements in newspapers.

The St. Catharines Public Library, in cooperation with The St. Catharines Standard, has created a Local Names Index. This online index contains notices for Births, Marriages, Deaths, Adoptions, Anniversaries, Birthdays, Engagements, etc. The index starts from January 1, 1900 and records have been entered up to the early 1920s. Historical records are being entered daily.

Didn´t take her long to re marry did it?
Interesting that her new husband was a silversmith.Another g uncle from the other side of the family emigrated to Canada just before the Davis lot & he was a silversmith too, but he ended up in Massachusetts.

Yes that´s my Florence. She was married to William Davis´s brother Charles & he was killed in France in 1917. They had emigrated to Canada when the daughter was just a baby. I knew she had re married, but not the details.

There's a Jessie Florence Davis returning home to Canada in 1920. She's 31, a widow, born Birmingham, England. She's returning to her sister Mrs. Collins, King St.,Thorold, Ontario.
Also on same ship, Jessie Florence Davis age 6, born Birmingham also returning home to aunt, Mrs. Collins.
