I am trying to find info on Ellen Roberts born in June 1891.I have obtained her marriage certificate as she married at Wolverhampton Registry office in 1915.Her father is given as John Roberts but there are several John Roberts mentioned in the 1902 census.I have found a few references in the 1911 census but nothing to link her with a father John Roberts. She must be on the 1902 census but again I cant locate her with any certainty.I have checked under Ellen and Nellie. She would have been around 11 in 1902. Can anyone help.
Many thanks,
Ian Crichton

What was her father's occupation?

The cert. should also give her address at the time of marriage, this could help find her in the census records!

She was 24 and her father was a labourer. She was living at Shale Street Bilston but I cant link this with anything in 1902 or 1911.

Ian, can you tell us where she was born and her fathers occupation on the marriage certificate? Also anything else from the marriage certificate that may help to locate her?

Neither Ellen or her husband living in Shale Street Bilston in 1911.

I think she was born after the 1891 census was taken. I think Stoke is unlikely because I think the family were more Black Country probably Bilston,Coseley Sedgeley area.
Thanks,
Ian

Thanks. She had obviously just moved into Shale street then in 1915.Everything seems to be conspiring against me.Although she was Ellen I suspect she is listed as Nellie in the 1902 census as she was only a young girl but there are so many of them. I have tried all the likely ones.I can only think it must be somewhere other than Bilston or Wolverhampton Staffordshire in 1902 although that is the obvious choice.I havent tried Handsworth or Worcester.Does anyone have access to those areas.
Thanks,
Ian
