Phone up the local newspaper and ask them, or see if they have suitable archives online?

Not many newspapers keep on-line obituary archives, unfortunately. You might find a local paper that would do a search for you.

A local public library would have back issues on microfilm.

To approach either source, though, you 'd do best to get the death certificate so you have an exact date and place of birth.

Kelly,

I am local to Coventry and indeed born there.

Most people these days are cremated in Coventry at Canley Crem. There is very little burial space left.

I would recommend giving the Coventry Evening Telegraph a call.

The local archive within the Coventry museum will *probably have his death on their microfiche/film.

Have you tried giving the bereavement service a call at Coventry Council, they might be able to tell you what happened to him. I know they are very good.

Thank you for you replies.

I have emailed the covenry Telegraph and they said iwould have to knowroughly when it would have been posted.

I have emailed (on friday) the Bereavement service at the council to see if they can help. I think i may have to visit coventry to go to the library etc...

Or Kelly, as I said, get the death certificate which will give you the exact date of death, which would tell you fairly exactly when a death notice would have been placed.

I assumed that since Kelly started with that info in her first post, she was being asked for a more precise date. ;) (He could have died in mid-November or late December, e.g.)

Which the certificate will give.

-- Unless he actually *was* 91 at death, which would mean he died between Dec 25 and Dec 31, and his death was registered imemediately. The image isn't accessible, but I think the index gives the birthdate, not the age. Ancestry has calculated that.

I have just recieved the below information
Ronald Jacson was cremated here at Canley on 12.1.2006 & his ashes were scattered in the woodland location EW11 on 14.2.2006.

I now need to know where the woodland location EW11 is??

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 22 Jun 2010 21:14

I would have said that would be the location within the Crem site,

They have numerous locations of various names, my own Grandfather and indeed Grandmother are scattered in the rose garden.

I would wager that's what the woodland area EW11 is. They have possibly split the locations up into sections (as with any other burial site) and defined it as such
