Hello,
I am trying to gather any info on Ann Baker. Census records on her birthplace suggest she was born in Malmesbury, Somerset, Bristol or plain old Gloucestershire. She obviously couldn't make her mind up. Birth year is consistent though, circa 1838/39. Ann married Thomas Johnson in 1856 in Cowley, Oxford. Father is given as Joseph. One census return gives the mother as Elizabeth b. Abt 1800 in Patchway, Bristol. I anyone can offer up any info regarding Ann's baptism, parent's etc, I would be very grateful. Ann is my GreatX3 Grandmother. Many thanks, Regards, Graham

Malmesbury is Wiltshire which is covered by Chippenham
In which case there are 2 to choice from.
Did she have a middle name ?

Hi Michael, on the census it was written as Malmesbury, Somerset. Although you are right in saying it is in Wiltshire. On one of the census returns, she has the middle initial "A". She had a daur called Sarah Ann. So maybe this is her full name too. Thank you.

Sorry Michael. I meant to write Sarah Baker, and not Ann Baker. Ann is a runner for the middle name though. All other details are correct,

Thanks Londonbelle, over the last 2 years I have bought all the likely birth cert's from the Gloucestershire area. (including Malmesbury.) Four in total. All had the wrong parentage. I am of the opinion that her birth was never registered.

Perhaps she was born pre-1837....what were her parents names?

Father was Joseph and Mother was Elizabeth. I seem to remember in the 1871 census, Elizabeth was given as Elizabeth Griffin, so she had remarried at some point.
