I am trying to find any info on Lily Davies b1886 to William Davies (seaman) and Sarah. Brother Ernest Davies(1883). According to the 1891 census ,all born Pontnewynydd. Can anyone help?

There are a few Lily Davies marriages in Pontypool. If she didn't have a middle name you can discount those which have.
One of the spouse's surnames may ring a bell

To answer Flick's question,I am looking for my G/fathers(Ernest Frank Davies) DoB. In 1891. and 1911 he is said to be born in Pontnewynydd. I have been to Gwent Records Office and Pontypool Registry office....neither have any DoB for him. So I thought I would try to find any descendants of his sister, Lily! Hoping to find her (deceased) father.William,from there the marriage to Sarah, etc.

Yes I have....there are so many Ernest Davies' listed , that I cannot afford to send off for every birth Certificate! So I was hoping that a descendant of Lily Davies may have been researching her tree and had the marriage of her parents, William Davies and Sarah! With other branches of my family ( mainly my mother's side),with help, I have been lucky enough to go back to the 18th C and in one case, to the 16c! But to hit a brick wall ,two generations back is frustrating!

Are Lily and Earnest are children of widowed Sarah and brother William?

No william or seaman in the censuses so far but address is same as the 1891 you posted.

I, too , wondered if Thomas and Sarah(1891)
were brother and sister in law! The various census' you gave
make interesting reading. I will dig deeper!
I have Ernest's marriage cert.and it states his father was William Davies,seaman,deceased.As normal,no details of his mother. I have found nothing at all on Lily.I was hoping that someone would have a Lily Davies in their tree and contact me.......not so much a long shot as a moon shot!

It would be extremely unlikely that a relative wouldspot this thread unless looking for it. What we do on here is try to help identify her and point you in the right direction. Where did you get the info about the seaman?

On Ernest Davies' marriage certificate. He married Rachel Williams in April 1904,at Pontypool. They were my paternal grandparents.

Info about fathers on marriage certs is not always the truth

I am concerned that we are not following the right family here.Davies is a common name.
According to the censuses we have found Thomas at

19, Ebenezer Road, Trevethin With Pontypool, Pontnewynydd

But Thomas 's father is Isaac not William.

On your initial post you get your place of birth from 1891 census so something does noy add up.

Could you copy out the marriage certificate including witnesss and addresses?

Actually Fans it was Earnest's I want to see. If the place of birth is taken rom 1891 and I am thinking possibly the wrong one then we do not know where he was born.
Roy says he has Earnest's marriage certificate but has not yet given details. We need to know the bride before we look anywhere else.

If Ernest is his grandad then maybe he has his parents birth cert?
