Find Ancestors

I can not find any information about Francis Clarke born 1856 or his wife Charlotte born 1855 after the 1881 census. His Children Constance 1879 and Charlotte 1880 appear in the 1891 staying with friends. The whole family were on the stage. Most comedians with the wives being actresses. The rest of the family seem to have disappeared. Any help would be appreciated

Do you have place of birth for Francis and Charlotte ?
Did they have stage names?

Thank you everybody for your help. I already have the information up to 1891 when my grandmother Charlotte and her sister were staying with friends but I am now completely stuck. As my mother's maiden name was Clarke I do not know whether Charlotte got married to another Clarke or whether her children up to 1914 when she married again were illegitamate. If anybody can suggest any further ways of finding where Francis and Charlotte disappeared to I would be grateful. I am pretty new to this research lark! P.S. I have looked in the deaths records.

There are 2 marriages where a Charlotte Clarke could have married another Clarke but in both cases the Charlottes had middle names.

The certificate would say if she was a widow at the time .

She married James Wakefield in N. Witchford. Her name then was Elsie Russell, but I can find no marriage between Elsie Russell or Charlotte Russell or Lottie (another name she used) She had two children with James. 1) James Wakefield born N. Witchford, Nr. Ely in 1916 giving her maiden name as Clarke and 2) Florence in Holbeach in 1920 giving her maiden name as Russell.

Now you know why I am struggling. My mother was born in 1908 in Lesmahagow, Scotland and I know she had quite a few brothers and sisters but finding them is another question!!

The whole Clarke family were born in different parts of the country so it is quite difficult to trace them.

I can't quite get my head round why Charlotte Clarke suddenly goes by the name of Elsie Russell though.

Nor could I, I knew from my mother, when she was alive, that my grandmother sometimes called herself Elsie. Whether this was a stage name I do not know and have now nobody to ask.
