I was always told my 2nd cousin disappeared on Redcar Beach in sinking sand and his body never found , Recently I have got the death cert saying he died on the 9th Aug 1903. It was recorded 26th Jan 1904 saying accidental drowing on Redcar beach. I phoned the record office after recieving it no other info . So I phoned were they kept the inquest papers for area they only had them from 1922 she then looked in the coroners reports nothing. I then phoned Northallerton Library and they did a search of news papers for Redcar and Stockton were he had lived nothing found His name was John Mcmurdo Scott and he was 6 years old. I wonder if there is any one who knows were the Police Reports for Redcar are kept as these if they have kept them might help. I have spoken to a first cousin of the little boy and she as the same story as me and my elder cousins say they were always told there was no body. There must be some information some were of this tragic event any help to solve it I would be very grateful . If there was an inquest the details would have been put on the death cert and the date of the inquest also included. |
