Gertrude Sandells Taylor was a general domestic servant born in Bridgnorth, Shropshire circa 1882. In 1904 she had a son out of wedlock (Wyness Max Taylor) with no father listed on the birth cert. I have found in the 1911 census that little seven-year-old Wyness was living with his grandparents (John William and Sarah Taylor) and there is no mention of his mother Gertrude. What happened to her is a complete mystery as I cannot find a death certificate, marriage certificate or any other record for her after 1901. |

Have you tried a search on this site to see if anyone else is looking for the family - I have an ancestor who used her "husband's" surname, although they were not married |

Interesting, but isn't that a ship heading from America to England? Gertrude was born in England. |
