somebody i know has the cd with all parish registers on for halifax,and he isnt there. Checked india office no sign of a marriage there. I know I cant say for certain but i think its more likely he married elsewhere. But you never know. Dont think im gonna find his marriage.

How do you know he wasn't married in Halifax or India?? ;)

There is no complete online database for either place. The couple could have marred in either location, and the record just hasn't been captured on any of the sites that have transcribed records.

Just found some more info about John Binns. He probably joined the shropshire 53rd in Halifax in Jan 1804,while they were stationed there. From there they went to carlisle,where the military chapel was st Marys Church,a possible marriage venue. From there they went to canterbury then portsmouth. They set sail for india in April 1805.

Robert was his brother and there was a sister,Ellen born in Cawnpore in 1811 but died same year. Still cant find any birth marriage or death records for john snr. He went to India with the shropshire in 1805 so guess he was prob born in 1780s

Have discovered John Binns Senior was in the shropshire 53rd regiment in India. Still cant find his service records though. Anybody any ideas where to look.

Looking for any information on john binns from halifax yorkshire.He was in India in 1812 with his wife Mary. their son John was born in India in 1812 and i found a record of that,but cannot find anything about his parents. John junior was back in england by 1834 . he was married in that year in halifax.
