Have you tried a search on this site, friends reunited, facebook of the electoral rolls. Durham University may be listed on friends reunited.
Good luck,
Liz

There is a member called Patricia who has this name and date in her tree on this site.

Dear Liz,
Thank you. I have tried the others you suggested. Just one more question: how can I find the Patricia you mentioned?

Go to search trees and enter Peter Allen b l95l, Croydon. His name will appear and on the far right the tree owner's name - Patricia- will say "find out more". Click on her name and send a message.
Good luck, please let me know if you find your friend - if not, we can try other ways.
Regards, Liz

David - You can check if a member has opened the message you sent by going to your "sent messages". If the envelope is purple, it means it has not been opened, if it is white, it has been opened.
Kind regards, Liz
