I think that I have found the marriage and subsequent birth announcements for the aunt:
Sarah (Sadie )Elizabeth Jackson married Allen Richard Bentley in Sydney 1943
Both Sadie and her husband are now deceased
Will send the info to Goldielocks by PM as the children will probably still be living.

This appears to be Jane with her family. Her marriage certificate would give her parents' names for definite.

Goldielocks,
Forgot to say that the death record and obituary for Jane Blair Jackson who died in 1988 will possibly provide some details on her children.

I have checked my Jackson lines, and confirm that your family and mine are not connected.
Looking at the census data above, it does look as if John was in School in Leith.
I also looked at a few trees on Ancestry and can see that his mother Elizabeth (Cook) died in 1899 which accounts for the family being split up in 1901.
This is his widowed father in 1901, living with his own mother ( Agnes Paterson) his unmarried siblings and the youngest son James.

1901 Scotland Census
about James Jackson
Name: James Jackson
Age: 44
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1857
Relationship: Son
Mother's Name: Agnes Jackson
Gender: Male
Where born: Carluke, Lanarkshire
Registration Number: 629
Registration district: Carluke
Civil parish: Carluke
Town: Carluke
County: Lanarkshire
Address: Stewart Street
Occupation: Waterwork Contractor
ED: 1
Household schedule number: 320
Line: 20
Roll: CSSCT1901_256
Household Members: Name Age
Agnes Jackson 67
James Jackson 44
Agnes Jackson 26
Janet Jackson 24
James Jackson 9
.
The military records for John are not held on Ancestry which would normally supply the soldiers address and next of kin.

EDIT

I think I have finally sussed it!
Sydney Morning Herald 7 Oct 1938
Divorce petition, Jackson v Jackson.
This article states John's 1st wife was called Jane Blair THOMSON and that they were married in Scotland
Ran another SP check and.....
John Jackson and Jane Blair Thomson married 1918 in TINWALD, DUMFRIES
(I would guess that Jane Blair Thomson was born in Dumfries 1898 daughter of John Thomson and Sarah Montgomery)

Here is the link to the SMH article

http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/17525855?searchTerm=jackson v jackson&searchLimits=l-title=35|||l-decade=193|||l-year=1938

I suspect that you already have this but, Ryerson Index shows a Jane Blair Jackson died 22 May 1988 age 91. Late of Ashfield ( Sydney Morning Herald 24 May 1988)

UK, Silver War Badge Records, 1914-1920
Name: John Jackson
Discharge Unit: Depot. Seaforth Highlanders
Regiment Number: 9054
Rank: C.Q.M.S.
Badge Number: 160570
Unit: Infantry (Perth)
Piece: 3062
List Number: G 0301-0598
Record Group: WO
Record Class: 329

(Date of Enlistment 13/12/04 Discharge 13/4/17 Cause, Sickness. Served Overseas Yes)

The British Empire lost more than 700,000 service personnel killed in World War 1. An even greater number were discharged because of wounds or illness. In September 1916, King George V authorized the Silver War Badge (SWB) to honor all military personnel who had served at home or overseas since 4 August 1914 and who had been discharged because of wounds or illness. The SWB was a small, circular badge made of sterling silver, bearing the king’s initials, a crown, and the inscriptions ‘For King and Empire’ and ‘Services Rendered’.
The SWB was not simply an honor; it also served a practical purpose. At the time, men of military age who were not obviously in the service were sometimes accosted or insulted by civilians presenting them with white feathers — a symbol of cowardice — for shirking their patriotic duty. The badge served as an outward symbol that the wearer’s duty to country had been honorably fulfilled.

Ann.I have the certificate on my granfather John Jackson served in the 1st Seaforth Highlanders.no.9054. it says.Served with honour and was disabled in the Great Was.Honourably discharged on 13th April 1914,which looks like 1917.

Alvigal. I have my grandparents marriage cert, birthplace listed as Motherwell,Scotland, his parents were Elizabeth Cook and James Jackson. and occ, listed as Labourer.

On my grandfathers death cert,I found the name of his first wife Jean Blair and children, but not anything else, they were living in Australia at the time of his death in 1957. thanks to all for your thoughts on this. also I looked up passenger lists around I am guessing 1920.there are alot of Jacksons?and I have no idea who is who.

Goldielocks,
How do you know that John Jackson served in WW1 and discharged in 1917?
I cannot find relevant military docs and his next of kin is usually listed on them.
I have 2 very large Jackson families in my tree, both families were from Lanarkshire.

Ran a check on Scotland's People and found no marriage between John Jackson and Jean or Jane Blair.

Closest match was Thomas Jackson and Jane Blair who married in Partick, Glasgow in 1899

Just found out some more information about mt grandfathers 1st wifes name..it was Jean Blair, they had 2 children together,James, and Sarah,Sarah known as Sadie.Surname Jackson..If they were born in Scotland like my grandfather John Jackson,Iam guessing it would be around Lanarkshire, but I feel maybe James the older may have just been born,in Scotland or in Australia, but still can not find records???Its a guess but James must of been born around 1917-1922.From what I understand,Jean lived with Sadie around 1937- in Sydney Australia, and James was married. Thanks everyone for your help in this

Thanks for your reply regarding John married to Jean/Jane and children.Iam affraid I have only this information as mentioned,I dont know where they married,I have tried both countries, and no records of the children either? Iam at a dead end as I can not find a paper trail to lead me to them..Also I didnt want to relist them as the board keeps on reminding members not to do so. I do have the copy of Johns marriage to my grandmother and there is no mention of any previous marriage. Thanking you for your time, Regards Debra

Did John and Jean marry in Australia or Scotland please? Where were the children born?

When you search for John's marriage remember that if Jean was also Scottish that in Scotland Jean and Jane are interchangeable. Sadie's birth and / or marriage may be registered as Sarah as again Sadie and Sarah are interchangeable.
