Heh Jan, kind of like my grx2 grandparents' daughter whose father, according to one census, was Marie, the neighbour lady.

Claire -- of all the millions of people in the UK, probably 100 read these boards in a week. Some of them might be able to help you find someone, but nobody's going to "know of them".

Can you give a location, for starters, some approximage ages?

If you have an idea of location, have you tried just looking for Peter Stainton in the telephone directory? (you need to name a county to search)

... Quick search of marriages ... we're talking about Yorkshire and they'd be 65+ ish.

They are on the electoral roll but only up to several years ago. There are no identifiable deaths for those names up to 2005, the latest accessible.

Only one birth with those surnames in the same place as where they married, and that child died in infancy.

Unfortunately nothing much is coming up.
