Find Ancestors

Trying to find anything on my grandfather, Herbert Sydney Edwards, born 1903, Burton on Trent. He left my Nan around the mid 1930's I think and not much has been heard of him since. Found him on a passenger list from 1956 travelling (with his apparent next wife Myra Kathleen) from Bermuda to the UK ...it states his permanent residence is Bermuda and that they were going to the UK for 2 months. I can't find them returning to Bermuda. Myra died in the Uk in 1992 and it says on her death cert she was a widow to Bert Edwards, so obviously he had died by then, but I can't find any record of his death anywhere. Can someone please help ??? many thanks.

Herbert Sydney was born on the 5th March 1903. I have his birth cert. I just can't find anything on him after the 1911 census when he was 8...apart from the passenger list from Bermuda to the Uk in 1956....so frustrating !! So Cathy the info you have is my Herbert.
Patricia.....Myra died on the 14th Feb 1992 in Portsmouth so he must have died before that. She was born 13th April 1908, in Cradley, West Midlands but had a Canadian passport apparently. Her maiden name was Brookes.

Death certificate might be wrong.

Yes Catherine that is the passenger list I found them on that I was talking about, but can't find them returning to Bermuda. Maybe they stayed in the UK ? Mind you it could be another Herbert S Edwards but I doubt it very much as he was from around Birmingham and was a builder, it has to be him !! It would be good if we could find something on him in Canada as well.

Could be a possibility Patricia. I know my Nan never heard anything from him so she never knew whether he was dead or alive. He sent her money a couple of times after he left her but then nothing. And it was always sent from different places, which could mean he had someone send it for him because he was out of the country. None of his family would tell my Nan where he was either.

Don't know if this is the right one but I can't find a Myra???

Looks like thats her birth record Cathy, she was born on the 13th Apr 1908 in Cradley from what it says on her death cert, so also might be her in the 1911 census if you can't find a Myra.

Unless......they moved to Canada before the census was done ?
