I am searching for the Lindsay Family - James and Bridgett, their children James, John, Doreen, Patricia, Maureen and Elaine. They came to Canada in 1930. I know James (Jimmy) and Maureen are deceased as are their parents James and Bridgett. Can you help in any way. I think James and Doreen were born in Northern Ireland but the rest in Canada. They apparently lived in Toronto.

Many thanks for looking Lorraine, Robert's parents were John Baxter b l850 Scotland (carpenter/joiner) and Mary Baxter nee Adams b 1858 Scotland. John and Mary were both living in West Ham, East London, when they married in l877.

not having much luck finding them on the 1901 or 1911 census

Sorry I'm late in replying been having a spot of bother with computer.

That's absolutely brilliant.

Arthur was her son to her first marriage, so you were spot on. That's helped me a great deal. I wasn't too sure I was on the right trail, but your help has convinced me.

I did think Arthur married around 1925 as his children were born 1926 & 1827

Perhaps he was visiting his mother.

Could you do another look up please either his marriage or his family in 1930

Marrriage - Arthur Baker to Edna Sortman between 1920 - 1930 either Pennsylvania or Ohio.

Dear Lorraine,
Thanks for the reply. All I know about Robert Baxter, (my Grandad's brother) is what my Dad's cousin has told me. Robert went to New York and was never heard of again. Perhaps he was there when WW1 started, and decided not to come back. Sorry to be so vague, but there is no one else I can ask now. I don't think he would have been married.
