I can't see our George Glover 1891 or 1901 either so you may well be right. Hiding from the wife maybe!

And John and Elizabeth on 1891with Elizabeth being a weaver ,the same as Minnie is on 1911

HARRISON, John Head Married M 26 1865 Saddler

HARRISON, Elizabeth Wife Married F 25 1866 Weaver Woollen

Leeds Sub District:
North Leeds Enumeration District:

St John the Baptist

Civil Parish:
Leeds Municipal Borough:
Leeds Address:

Yorkshire (West Riding)

The only marriages I can find for a John Harrison to an Elizabeth in Leeds seem too early for them as they are 1884 and 1883.
And anyway I am convinced that they are the same (Glover/Harrison)people as they have the same children on 1901 and 1911.

And I cant find George Glover on 1891 either, but thats nothing new to happen to me,can you see him on 1891 Jan?
Hmmmm,what have I started now..?

Spanner in the works merchant here.:)

1901
I believe this is young Minnie and Florence "Glover" from 1911,so is "Elizabeth" Priscilla and I note that John has the same occupation and almost the same year of birth as George Glover on 1911?.

What do you think Ladies?

HARRISON, John Head Married M 34 1867 Saddler

HARRISON, Elizabeth Wife Married F 33 1868

Ok thanks for that Jan. x

Until you get the cert you won't be able to tell if Priscilla was married before. If not then you can look for previous marriage for George. My guess is one of them (or both!) was married to someone else already, it seems the only explanation.

Yes that's what I thought. Is there any way I can find that out?

Dawn

Dawn Report 25 Sep 2010 16:49

Do you think? Priscilla was obviously putting on the census that she was married already but I have been told that alot of people did that.

My mother's side is so complicated. I found all my Dad's mother's info in an hour!

I will let you know the outcome when Maud's cert arrives.

Thanks for your help.

If your grandmother never married George until 1926 and Maud was born in 1902 perhaps its a second marriage?

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 25 Sep 2010 16:15

You might as well wait for the cert. How you came up with Harrison I don't know! Let us know the result.

Not got the birth cert yet but Maud Harrison is def my Grandma. The cert is in the post. The confusion is around her mother Priscilla. I could not find any info for a Priscilla Harrison on the early cencus' of when she was a child so someone kindly found their marriage reg which she was named Phillipson. It would make sense that this is her.

I may have to wait for this to come before I can take it any further. Maybe Priscilla was married before she met George?

Dawn, not quite clear about this. Have you got this birth cert? If her mother's maiden name is Phillipson that should be the name on the cert., not Glover. Is there a father? Are you sure you have the right birth?

Hi

I have found my Grandma's birth registration (Aug 1902 - 9B 57) Maud Harrison and her mother was Priscilla Glover (but not married to George until later in life. Somebody found this information, Priscilla Phillipson and George Glover 1926, (9A 716). The question is, why would my Grandma's name be registered Harrison when neither parent's surname was Harrison? I have ordered my Grandma's birth certificate to see what info is actually on there.

Thank you
