Looking for information on Bertha Lavinia Rimmer 1869 born in Southport area. Looking for parents, siblings and any other ancestors. I know she had at least one sister known as 'Annie'. Bertha married a Henry Banks and she may have had a stepmother at some time.

the Bertha who married Henry Banks does not seem to have a middle name. Where did you get the name Lavinia from please?

Her Father's name will be on her marriage certificate. You need that before you starting looking in censuses and guessing whether it is the correct family.

Thank you all for your help, the 1881 Census in particular was most helpful. I am rather puzzled as to why I cannot find these people in the 1881 Census when I search the records. With regard to Bertha's second name - the information came from my mother who always knew her grandmother as Bertha Lavinia, but I have no written evidence of this.

I have searched the 1881 census on Genes Reunited and on the Church of latter Day Saints site for various of the Rimmer family as posted above by Choccy and not found them. I have now searched for Thomas Taylor, shown in Choccy's post as 'Father in Law' and found him with the Rimmer family in 1881 census ( via Genes Reunited site ) but searching for the 'Rimmers', still does not find them. I wonder if the name has been transcribed incorrectly but then I would have thought that you would not have found them either.
