Thanks to all of you, especially Cynthia who advised this senior Senior how to find your answers and reply for the first time.
To B.M.Dtr - D.H. Wilson Sr. was Collector of Town's Dues, NCSL on 1851 census. His Will gives death as June 16, 1853. His wife was Ann Jewitt.

To fellow Canadian Sylvialn- W.J.H. Wilson born Aug 16, 1830. FreeBMD has death of a Wm Jewitt HARRISON Wilson 1854 Q1 10b10 NCSL-T but I think it is our man.
I can find no1861 birth registration of Chas Ham. Wilson to order.
Another source has advised a David Ham. Wilson died Mar.1884 age 62 N. Tyneside West, vol 2 page 1344 which fits my man so I will order that cert. although it is not on FreeBMD

To Gael Down Under - Your guess seems reasonable that Ellen Taylor christened 1840 in Barnard Castle became Ellen Wilson age 32 on 1871 census of Darlington with dtr Ellen Wilson age 9 who is my grandmother.
Your info on Wm Wilson & Sarah Hamilton parents of D.H.Wilson born 6 Oct.1799 is correct.

I think you are going to have to get Charles Hamilton Wilson's birth certificate to find Ellen's maiden name


I can find no marriage for David Hamilton Wilson to an Ellen



Don't forget that the information on the children's marriage certificates may not be accurate


he may have been dead when the daughter married

OR he might still have been alive when his son married ..... possibly estranged from the family.

David Hamilton Wilson born Ncsl-on-Tyne 1831 was a bookseller on 1871 census in Tynemouth,NBL. His wife Ellen born c1839 in Barnard Castle, son Chas. Ham. Wilson born 1861 in NCSL and dtr Ellen born c1963 also Ncsl are all in 1871 census in Darlington, DUR. David was alive on dtr's marriage record in 1883 but deceased on son's in 1889. Looking for David's death between those years and wife Ellen's unknown maiden name and death.
